Join my virtual nature club!
Calling all naturalists, nature lovers, and otherwise nature-curious folks!
You are invited to join my virtual nature club called In Our Nature.
It’s a place to share all your sunset pics, cool plants and animal tracks you saw on your walk, and more! Come together with others to learn about nature! Share and discuss nature-inspired art! Explore prompts designed to get you outside and experiencing the beauty of where you live (with adaptations for accessibility)!
Anyone that loves nature or wants to learn more about the world around them is welcome to join!
We, as humans, are a part of nature – not separate from it.
We are interacting with and observing something of which we are an integral part. Nature has a profound impact on us and is deeply impacted by our actions. In return, we are greatly affected by nature’s response to our own actions. It is a cycle, a symbiotic relationship. We are responsible for stewarding this relationship and for our impact – whether positive or negative. It is important for us to learn more about nature so we can better care for and be in relationship with it.
This virtual club is hosted on Discord!
What’s Discord? Think of it like a group chat, but a little more organized. There are various “channels” set up, each focused on a different topic. Check out this article and/or this video to learn more about the platform! Feel free to reach out to me on social media or via my website if you have any questions.
Want a sneak peak?
Here’s an example of one of the prompts I developed for the club! (Originally posted on April 3, 2025)
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to head outside and look for a sign of spring! Spring may be in full bloom where you are, or it may be just getting started (that’s more the case for me). Either way, there will be signs!! Set aside 5, 10, or 15 minutes and head outside to see what you find! Refer to the pinned messages above for accessibility and geography notes.
If you’re not sure what to look for, here are some ideas: Tree buds swelling; insects flying and crawling around; frogs calling; salamanders making their journeys to ancestral vernal pools; the smell of thawing earth and decaying leaves; spring ephemeral flowers blooming; birdsong from resident winter birds or migratory birds that have already returned!
Then, come back here and share what you found!
*Note: The accessibility adaptations are available within the discord server. Please reach out if you’d like to see them before joining.
